Large vintage double-sided wall map printed on linen-backed paper, featuring a detailed world map titled “Map of the British Empire” on one side and a richly illustrated “Fertile South Australia” map on the reverse. Dating to the reign of King George V (circa 1910s–1920s), this impressive piece reflects the height of the British Empire and includes extensive comparative tables showing the relative size, strength and commercial position of world powers, along with inset maps and period statistics. The South Australia side shows towns, railways, roads, districts and an alphabetical index of cities and towns, making it both a fascinating historical document and a striking decorative wall display. Originally issued folded, this large-format map opens out beautifully and has wonderful heritage character and visual presence.
