Vintage old bottle Oswald Eaglehawk M824 1947 Ballarat 🦩
$49.99
This is an original vintage glass bottle manufactured by R. Oswald, Eaglehawk, circa 1947, and produced in Ballarat, Victoria. The base is embossed with the marking M824.
R. Oswald was a local soft drink and cordial manufacturer based in Eaglehawk, a suburb of Bendigo, Victoria. Operating from the early 1900s through to the mid-20th century, Oswald produced aerated waters, cordials, and ginger beers — part of the vibrant regional beverage industry that once flourished across Australia before large bottlers like Schweppes and Coca-Cola dominated the market.
This particular bottle was made by the Ballarat Glass Company, one of Victoria’s major bottle suppliers of the time (later absorbed into ACI – Australian Consolidated Industries). The embossed design and mold code M824 identify it as part of a refillable batch used for locally distributed drinks, making each bottle unique to its region.
Condition:
The glass shows some light surface scratches consistent with age, and a fine hairline fracture on the base, but no chips. Presents beautifully as a collectible display piece.
