This is a vintage Suisse, “Meta” curling tong heater. It is stamped on the bottom of the base. I think it is missing a part, where the tongs sit on a thin piece of metal. The tongs were heated by the Kerosene. The metal shows wear. This is a very old piece of history of how women curled their hair! It could be from the 1920’s or even earlier!.
